Finished the 21^st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival that Walailak university was a host of this event along 23rd-28th August 2019. This event was participated by delegates students of 12 Universities from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand about 1200 participants.For the official xlosing ceremony ,the honorable Prof.Dr.Sombat Thamrungthanyawung ,Chancellor of Walailak university and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Bin Lamsali president of IMT-GT Varsity Council came to give awards for all the winners of Sports, Cultural performance, and Academic seminar. Nevertheless, they also gave a host flag for the next coming host of the 22^nd IMT-GT Varsity Carnival that going to held at SYIAH KUALA University, ACEH, Indonesia.

On 27th August 2019 Assoc.Prof. Dr.Hendrik Bin Lamsali, president of the IMT-GT Varsity Carnival and administrators from 12 universities from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand came to join the football tournament to strengthen their relationship from 3 counties at football artificial turf, Walailak university.

On 27^th August 2019, Prof Dato Dr.Adnan Hussin, Chairman of the 50 years Jubli from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) leaded caravan of Big Bike of USM. About 57 Big Bikes came to visit the 21^st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2019 and gave appliances for group of Pooma Bank and Demonstration group of Walailak as the 50^th years anniversary of USM.

On 26th August 2019 ,Walailak University as a host of the 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival conducted 4 km Fun Run activity and this activity was joining by students staff and lecturers from Indonesia , Malaysia and Thailand about 1000 participants . Prof. Dr.Sombat Thamrungthanyawong ,Chancellor of Walailak University also came to give an opening ceremony speech and gave a start signal for all runners at starting point which was in front of Thaiburi Building.

He also said that the objectives of the 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival is to constantly promote collaboration activities to develop human resources closer relationship among the neighboring countries .The varsity council has therefore come up with various kinds of event such as sports , art and culture , cultural performance , academic seminar , and tourism in the community to exchange and strengthen our relationship which benefit students and staff all twelve member universities.

However , sport development is one of the key features of the Varsity Council’s objective, Walailak University as a host was very pleased to organized FUN RUN to promote people’s good health and spirit.He was very sure that running around our green campus, beautiful atmosphere, and along Walailak University Garden which is the biggest university park in Thailand ,would be very pleasant for them. He also would like to thank you for all staff for their contribution to make this successful.

This Fun Run started from area in front of Thaiburi hall long to Walailak Garden and turned back at in front of Thaiburi hall for finishing point. The length of this activity was about 4 km. and for the first men finisher was Mr.Culfan Fahmil from Medan Universitas syiah Kuala Acheh-Indonesia and the first woman finisher was Miss Chutima Srimoktam students from Walailak University , fourth year student from School of Allied Health Science .Then . Prof. Dr.Sombat Thamrungthanyawong ,Chancellor of Walailak University gave the medals for all finishers.

Walailak University and Nakhon Si Thammarat Province as a host of the 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival during 23rd -28th August 2018 for strengthen relationship and exchange experiences of students who come from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, 12 universities totally. Part of sport included the tournaments of football, volleyball, badminton and tennis. There are about 383 players from 3 countries who join these tournaments.

"Opening Ceremony of the 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival" Walailak University and Nakhonsithammarat province be a host of the 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival during 23rd-28th August 2019 for strengthening relationship and exchange experiences of students who come from Indonesia,Malaysia and Thailand. The official opening ceremony held on the evening of 24th August 2019 and was attending by Prof. Dr.Sombat Thamrungthanyawong Chancellor of Walailak University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Bin Lamsali President of IMT-GT varsity Council gave an opening speech and welcoming speech for VIP guests, administrators, staff and all delegates students from 12 universities about 1,200 people at Thaiburi Hall.

Walailak University as a host of 21st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2019 held the academic seminar in the topic of “Empowering Local Wisdom towards Human Wellness” and its Sub-theme : Economy, Society (Health and Politics ) , Environment and Technology during 24th-27th August 2019 by including students as participants from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand based on 12 universities who join this seminar. On24th August 2019 the honorable Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Bin Lamsali Vice-Chancellor University Utara Malaysia as a president of IMT-GT Varsity Council program came to give a opening speech and Vice-professor Dr.Charun Bunyakarn Vice-chancellor of Academic Affair at Walailak University also came to give a welcoming speech.

Walailak University in association with Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, announced at the Press Conference to jointly host “The 21^st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival” to be held at Walailak University during 23^rd- 28^th August 2019 to strengthen the relationship and exchange experience among the students of the member universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

On 16^th August 2019 at Sri Prach Meeting Room, Office of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Hall, Mr. Pongsak Muangdee, Director of Strategy and Information for Development of Nakhon SiThammarat, together with Associate Professor Dr.Sarawoot Palipoch, Vice-President for Student Affairs, Walailak University, and Mr. Pramuanwith Pruedchana, Assistant of the Office of Nakhon Si Thammarat Tourism and Sports jointly announced at the Press Conference, to host and co-hostthe 21^stIMT-GT Varsity Carnival to be heldat Walailak University during 23^rd-28^th August 2019 for strengthening and exchanging invaluable experiences among students from Indonesia,Malaysia and Thailand. There were distinguished guests from public and private sectors andaround 50 mass media attended the Press Conference.

Mr. Pongsak Muangdee stated about the objective to support the 21^stIMT-GT Varsity Carnival this year is that the Nakhon Si Thammarat province would like to promote tourism, sports and culture through various kinds of activity to benefit the students and people of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand so called the Growth Triangle area. Moreover, the students of Nakhon Si Thammarat will have an opportunity to expose to and engage with international friends from multi-socio cultural contexts, develop their communication skills, as well as to promote tourism of Nakhon Si Thammarat to their friends from those countries. Mr. Muangdee also invited the people of Nakhon SiThammaratto be a host together and give a warm hospitality to our IMT-GT guests to make a good impression.

Associate Professor Dr. Sarawoot Palipoch said the Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand - Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Varsity Carnival was first established by the collaborative foundation of Universiti Utara Malaysia and Prince of Songkhla University in 1996 and later joined by other neighboring countries. The main objective of IMT-GT Varsity Carnival is to strengthen academic relationship, enhance staff and student development through a variety of activities such as sports competition, academic seminar, and cultural exchange among 12 member universities from Indonesia, Kuala Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Institut Teknologi Medan (ITM), Universitas Syiah Kuala (UNSYIAH), from Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), University Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), and from Thailand, Prince of Songkla University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Thaksin University, and Walailak University. The member universities agree to take turn in organizing the event every year at their venues for the benefits of their staff and students in the relevant aspects. Dr. Palipoch also mentioned that the IMT-GT activities are categorized into three major elements—Sports, Arts and Culture, and Academic Seminar. For Sports, there are 5 types of sports—football, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and 4-kilometer fun run, to be held this year. For Arts and Culture, there will be cultural performances from the three neighboring countries under the theme “Exploring ASEAN Culture through Multicultural Dance”. For Academic Pillar, a seminar on “Empowering Local Wisdom towards Human Wellness” will be organized during the abovementioned period. Participants of this seminar may approximately be 1,200 students and staff from 12 member universities. The official Opening Ceremony of the 21^st IMT-GT Varsity Carnival will be held on 24^thAugust 2019 at Walailak University, moreover, there will be NST city tour activity, a cultural performance show at NST City Park at the 25^thnight, Big Bike Caravan from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) will also join the event and the tour.

Mr. Pramuanwith Pruedchanaalso said at the Press Conference that the21^stIMT-GT Varsity Carnival eventis congruent with the province strategy on the development of ecotourism and cultural tourism to meet international standards. Organizing this event, the NST people can be able to generate income from tourism related-industries;all involving sectors in NSTcan participate in the event and in the meantime learn how to organize international events to meet its standards;the province can create impressive corporate image and build confidence for tourists from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand and attract them tore-visit Nakhon Si Thammarat in the future.
